The 54 countries and their capitals — the famous (Cairo, Nairobi, Lagos, Cape Town, Casablanca, Addis Ababa) alongside the famously-tricky (Bangui, Niamey, Lilongwe, Bujumbura, Asmara). Major rivers (Nile, Congo, Niger, Zambezi, Limpopo), the Sahara and its neighbouring deserts (Kalahari, Namib), the Rift Valley, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya.
Regional groupings: North Africa / Maghreb, West Africa, the Horn of Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, the Sahel. Recent border / state changes (South Sudan in 2011, the various capital-city relocations).
Middle East

Famous landmarks: the Pyramids of Giza, Petra, the Dead Sea, Mecca and Medina, the Hagia Sophia / Blue Mosque in Istanbul, the Burj Khalifa, Jerusalem's Old City. Major rivers (Tigris, Euphrates, Jordan), the deserts (Arabian, Negev).
